The film shows how vibrant Afro-Brazilian arts are used to combat racism and social inequality in Bahia, Brazil.

Philadelphia-based International Capoeira Angola Foundation will give a demo to begin the evening. Following the film, the filmmakers will join a panel of local cultural arts leaders to discuss youth, identity, and the arts. Stick around till the end as Philly's own Alô Brasil busts out the drums. Ben is wildly excited for Rhythmic Uprising to be screened at the Akron Film Festival. Ben is a NE Ohio native and this will be the first time he's been able to formally share what he learned in Brazil with the folks back home. There won't be an official Q&A at the screening, but we're working on holding that or a panel discussion about the arts and racial identity somewhere nearby.
